PUNE, Nov 12: The University of Pune Management Council, in its meeting held today, did not take any decision over 16 new Bachelor of Computer Science BCS course proposals and instead decided to take a comprehensive review of all BCS and management courses specifically probing their existing conditions and teaching standards.

In its other important decisions, the Council forwarded six proposals for setting up of engineering colleges to the State Government. These include one proposed by Bharati Vidyapeeth and K K Wagh College Nashik8217;s Women8217;s engineering college. The meeting could not discuss all the points in its agenda and was adjourned half way. The council will now meet in next month to take up the remaining issues.

The Council8217;s no-decision8217; over the Bachlor in Computer Science course is believed to be largely affected by the controversy which arose out of granting permission to certain colleges in the city to start BCS courses recently.

It may be noted that the State Higher and Technical Minster has appointed a one member committee to look into the infrastructure and teaching status of the Bachlor in Comptuter Science courses in these colleges. The committee, headed by Higher education director is yet to submit is report to the State.

According to university sources the management council is likely to clear the 16 BCS courses proposals in its next meeting however it will continue the process of reviewing the BCS course status in various colleges. 8220;In order to escape the flak it drew recently in connection with BCS course permission, the university would be interested in taking a policy decision in this regard8221;, said the source.
