
In a significant step to develop synergy between industry and academia in the state, the Nirma University of Science 038; Technology NUST has signed an agreement with the Green Environment Co-operative Services Society Limited GREEN, promoted by the Vatva Industries Association, Ahmedabad.
According to the agreement, NUST will help GREEN in increasing energy efficiency, in equipment handling issues, process-related problems and treatment of liquid effluents.
Prof A P Vyas Head of Chemical Department, NUST, said, 8220;This is set to benefit nearly 600 most polluting units of the Vatva Industrial Estate, operating under GREEN.8221;
Vyas further said that the MoU will be in place for the next three years and NUST will establish a help desk that will act as a single window problem solving mechanism for the industries under GREEN.
Prof Sachin Sehgal, Placement and Training Officer, NUST, said the university will organise industrial training at GREEN establishments and will carry out specific research leading to the generation of bench mark data as well as testing services to the GREEN industries.
In reciprocation, GREEN technicians will carry out demonstration projects and work with NUST to align the industry requirements with the college curriculum.
Prof Vipul Shah of NUST also said that the university has recently organised an 8216;Energy Associate Programme8217; for imparting energy efficiency training to GREEN industries. Vendors were directly involved in the training process.
8220;This module has already been presented to the Gujarat Energy Development Agency, the nodal agency of the Government of Gujarat for promotion and popularisation of renewable energy and energy conservation, for approving its replication in other industrial estates of Gujarat,8221; Shah added.
