PUNE, Nov 13: A record number of 99.63 per cent of voters in Pune district cast their votes in the election for the lone seat of Legislative Council, to be filled from Pune local self-government, today.

The election commission sources said 540 voters out of 542 exercised their franchise throughout the day. The members of municipal councils in the district, three cantonment boards, zilla parishad and corporators of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad are the voters for this election.

Only two voters 8211; one from Pimpri-Chinchwad and another from Khadki Cantonment Board did not turn for the voting. With the exception of this, all the councillors, zilla parishad members and corporators turned for the voting. The counting of the election will be held on Sunday at collector office.

The prominent leaders of Congress and Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi including Ait Pawar and Suresh Kalmadi were camping atthe PMC during the day, mobilising their voters.
