CHANDIGARH, June 6: The UT Education Department has changed the admission procedure for students seeking admission to Class XI in government schools. In order to centralise the admission process, students will now fill in a single form instead of applying to various government schools. The candidate will also mention his or her school preference on the form.
While students opting for Science stream will fill their admission forms in Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, those who want to take up Commerce will go to Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22. Students seeking admission to the Humanities stream will buy and deposit their admission forms at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18. The last date for submission of forms at the respective centres is June 30.
The forms will be available at the notified centres from June 15. For the Science stream, interviews of candidates who have secured above 80 per cent have been scheduled for July 5. Those who have scored above 70 per cent will be interviewed on July 6 and those above 60 per cent, on July 7.
The last date for candidates seeking admission to the Commerce stream is July 13. The dates of the interviews are July 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 for those above 80 per cent, 70 per cent, 60 per cent, 50 and 33 per cent respectively. The interviews of students seeking admission to the Humanities stream will begin on July 8 and will continue till July 14.
Students seeking admission to Class XI may also attend the counselling and guidance session at these centres. The list of the combination of subjects of all the streams will be displayed at the centres, said D. S. Mangat, director, Public Instruction. Classes will start from July 16.
