Ruby Bhatia’s career has undergone many changes in the last 18 months. First, the veejay entered the world of acting as the main detective in UTV’s Yeh Hai Raaz. Then she quit Channel [V]. And now, she has left the sets of Yeh Hai Raaz.

But Ruby is back on the small screen with two music-based shows, Hello and Ooh la la (she is taking over from Neelam). "I did not renew my contract with Channel [V] as I felt the time had come to move on to bigger and better things. I think I have managed that," says she. Given her penchant for music-related programmes, it is just as well that Ruby cannot do without music. "I love bhangra and devotional music like bhajans and chants," she says. She also listens to some Indian pop but feels the industry still has to mature. "Just about everyone is jumping on to the pop bandwagon whether they are good are not," she says. Though Ruby believes that after a while things will change and only the best will survive. She rates Daler Mehndi, Leslie Lewis and her husband Nitin Bali asthe better voices in the industry.

But this busy anchor may not have time to listen to music till next month, as she is fully booked till then. Besides shooting for her two new shows she is also taking part in a special charity event put together by Canadian vice-consul Sanjeev Chowdhury which hopes to raise awareness about cancer victims. And she is also compering the Graviera-Mr World Contest in Jaipur at the end of the month. So, till then, her CDs and tapes may just gather dust.
