
CHANDIGARH, Nov 13: Fifteen teams including defending champions Madhya Pradesh in the girls under-17 group in basketball have arrived to take part in the 44th National School Games which will commence here from tomorrow. The competition is being held in boys and girls section in under-17 handball and basketball and under-19 in hockey.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Sector 42 Sports Complex at 11 a.m, tomorrow.
Meanwhile, hosts Chandigarh is participating in all the three disciplines and are of confident of defending their title in hockey event in the boys section.
The other teams who have arrived are: Maharashtra, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. The fixture will be draw tomorrow.
Harneet shines
An all-round performance by Harneet Arora 29 and 2 for 28 enabled St John8217;s High School-26 beat St Stephen8217;s School-45 by 6 wickets to lift the title in the under-14 group in the Edmund Rice cricket tournament held at St John8217;s School-26.
