
LIEVIN, FRANCE, February 22: Former outdoor world champion Maria Mutola of Mozambique set a world indoor record today at 800 metres of one minute 56.36 seconds, surpassing the old mark of 1:56.40 set by Christine Wachtel of East Germany on February 13, 1988.
Mutola, 25, who finished second last season at 800 metres in the World Outdoor Championships to Cuba8217;s Ana Quirto, has won the world indoor 800 title three straight times.
