
Wages for Swan workers
MUMBAI, September 15: Labour minister Sabir Shaikh has asked the Swan Mill management to pay workers their wages for the months of July and August by Monday, said a press release by the Girni Kamgar Sangharsh Samiti. This decision was taken after talks held between the management and union members on Tuesday, added the release.
Expedition to Chango Valley
A city-based team The Climbers8217; successfully completed a mountaineering expedition to the Chango Valley of Himachal Pradesh recently. The expedition was led by veteran mountaineer Arun Samant, along with Anil Chavan from Naval Dockyard, Ravi Wadaskar from BARD and Aloke Surin from Air India.The expedition climbed three peaks in the Chango Valley, of which two were first ascents.
Posters for communal amity
The Mumbai police and Colaba Cuffe Parade Mohalla committee have organised an on the spot poster contest to promote communal harmony on September 19 at Fort Convent School, next to Woodhouse Churchat Regal at noon. The competition is open to students of schools and colleges situated in A-ward.

Karan Singh to deliver lecture
The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi Centre have, on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of Sri Maharshi8217;s advent at Arunachala, organised a talk by Dr Karan Singh, MP. Singh, also chairperson of the Bhavan8217;s Jammu amp; Kashmir Kendra, will speak on Twentieth Century Trinity: Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramana Maharshi and Sri Aurobindo8217;. The talk will be held at 6.15 pm at Bhavan8217;s Auditorium, Chowpatty, on Thursday.
