Body found at Marine Drive

The Cuffe Parade police fished out the dead body of a 25-year-old unidentified youth from the sea near Marine Drive. According to sub-inspector Gurav of Cuffe Parade police, the youth was a beggar who lived on the pavement near Marine Drive and must have fallen into the sea during the high tide.

It could not be known what time he must have fallen in the sea, however, the police has estimated it to be 5.20 pm. The body has been sent to the J J Hospital Coroner for ascertaining the cause of death.

Rupali signs mgmt contract

The 16-year-old swimming wonder Rupali Repale has signed a management contract with Limelight Entertainment Pvt Ltd, promoted by supermodel Mehr Jesia and entertainment media strategist Sunil Doshi.

Acclaimed as the youngest and fastest woman swimmer in the world, at 16, Rupali has swum in six of the seven straits in the world. She has been conferred with the title of Sagar Kanya by the state government. Her most recent achievement has beenthe Cook Strait on March 10, 1998. She was the first woman to perform this feat when she swam the 80 km distance in 19 hrs and 45 minutes.

Suicide prevention workshop

A workshop on 8220;Developing Intervention Skills in Suicide Prevention8221; for Mumbai University teachers will be held between June 22-28. It is intended to train teachers to deal effectively in averting a suicidal event.

Forms for pvt schools

The state government has invited application forms for starting new private English medium primary schools. The forms, costing Rs 500, are available with the district education officer and should be submitted by June 30. The fee should be paid to the government treasury.
