New Rs 500 notes
The Reserve Bank of India will issue new Rs 500 notes in the Mahatma Gandhi series bearing the signature of its governor, Dr Bimal Jalan. The words quot;Mahatma Gandhiquot; will appear below the portrait instead of M K Gandhi as in the notes issued in the earlier series, informed RBI. The design of the new note is similar in all respects to the old ones. All Rs 500 notes issued in the past will continue to be legal tender.
Lawyers to go on hunger strike
The Labour Law Practitioner8217;s Association, comprising law practitioners in labour and industrial courts/tribunals in the city, will go on a chain hunger strike from 10.00 am on June 18. The lawyers are demanding alternative accommodation for the quot;unsafequot; courts located at Tardeo. Although lawyers have abstained working there since June 12, the government took no notice, and hence, the association has decided to intensify the agitation.
Digital media seminar
The Xavier8217;s Institute of Communications isconducting a free seminar on counselling in Digital Media related careers on June 24.
