Free camp

The Lions Club of Juhu has organised a free polio corrective surgery camp between January 16 and 17 at the Homeopathic hospital, Irla, Vile Parle w. The check up and surgery will be done free of cost for children below the age of 18. A general check up will also be held on January 16. where up to 1,200 polio patients will be examined and 200 selected for surgery. Those interested can contact Harshad Mehta on 6202004/2228.

Exhibition

The Islamic Research Foundation is holding an exhibition on comparative religions at its auditorium on Tandel Street north, Dongri, till Saturday. The display includes religious scriptures with texts and translations in English of all world religions, CD ROMs, Audio CDs and video cassettes.

Competition

Smile, a charitable society, is hosting a kite flying competition on Sunday, January 11 for street children from 14 different non-governmental organisations like Amchi Kholi and Sneha Sadan. The competition will be held at the Wilson College grounds between 2 and 6 pm.

AIDS workshop

The Lions Club of Bombay Bimanagar in collaboration with UNICEF and the BMC8217;s AIDS cell is conducting a four-day workshop for teachers on AIDS awareness and prevention from January 7, 1998. Thirty-five teachers from 14 schools in Borivli and Mira Road will participate in the programme, to be held at St Francis Technical School, Borivli.

NASEOH

The National Society for Equal Opportunities for the Handicapped, India will provide a unique opportunity to plant lovers, specially professionals in the area of landscaping, interior decoration, nursery development and horticulture, to learn Japanese landscaping. Memorandum

The Maharashtra Minorities Front, Mohammad Farooq Azam, has sent a memorandum to police commissioner R H Mendonca requesting that in the month of Ramzan, restaurants, hotels and pan shops in 8220;minority8221; areas should be allowed to remain open the whole night. The front has demanded that the police chief inform each and every police station in such areas not to close establishments.
