
ACB arrests cop for taking Rs 1,000 bribe
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate A A A Kidwai today remanded Assistant Superintendent of Police Sopal Pande to police custody till September 30 for demanding and accepting bribe.
Pande was caught on Monday night in the office of Director of Health Services while accepting Rs 1,000 from Sanjay Shah, who had applied for the post of medical officer from Aurangabad.
Shah, who had come to Mumbai to inquire about the result of the selection, was directed to the office of the Director of Health Services, where he met Pande.
The latter demanded Rs 1,000 to release his order. The Anti-Corruption Bureau, which was tipped off, later arrested Pande.
School teachers to get LTC
The Government of Maharashtra has decided to introduce Leave Travel Concession LTC for teaching and non-teaching staff of all government-recognised private schools and teachers8217; training schools.
Both teaching and non-teaching staff will be entitled to travel anywhere inthe state once in four years to avail of the facility. The benefit can be availed of even during the vacation.
Hailing the decision, President of the Subject Teachers Association, M P Sharma, said this facility was earlier left to the discretion of individual managements.
New posts for civic bodies
The state Cabinet today announced that it will create the posts of Leader of the House and Leader of the Opposition in municipal corporations.
In addition, the Cabinet has decided to give representation to areas recently included under the jurisdiction of the municipal corporations. The government will therefore request the governor to promulgate an ordinance so that these decisions can be implemented.
