Withdraw model Rent Control Act8217;

Maharashtra today urged the Centre to withdraw the model Rent Control Act saying it was against the interests of the poor and middle class citizens.

Minister of State for Housing Raj Purohit made this plea when he met union Minister for Urban Development Ram Jethmalani in New Delhi on Friday.

Purohit also urged Jethmalani to constitute a committee to go into the details of a new rent control legislation.

Rapist cook suspended

Minister of State for Social Welfare Dilip Kamble today announced dismissal of Shivaji Nanaware, a cook with Dongri Remand Home, who had allegedly raped a minor inmate who was deaf and dumb last year. The remand home superintendent Anil Harshe and his deputy Usha Surve were also suspended for dereliction of duty, Kamble said replying to a question by Digambar Wishe, Vishnu Sawra and others.
