
One more held in blasts case
One more person suspected to be involved in the bomb blasts which rocked Mumbai on February 27 has been arrested by the crime branch, CID, on Tuesday.Police sources said the arrested accused, Sahid Khalil Ansari 24 was one of the key conspirators who masterminded the blasts. Ansari, held from Jogeshwari, has been remanded to police custody till March 18.
Govt to give extra palm oil
The state government will provide one litre extra palm oil at Rs 30 to ration card holders in Mumbai and Thane for the month of March. Card holders not availing of the sugar quota will also get palm oil, said an official statement.
1,000 students end life per year
A paper to be presented at a seminar on suicide rates at Mumbai University reveals that in Mumbai, 1,000 students commit suicide every year, while 8,000 attempt to do so. The paper, presented by Geeta Shah of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, cited the reasons as failure in exams and love affairs, fall insocial status and parental differences. University vice-chancellor Dr Snehalata Deshmukh announced the setting up of a task force comprising experts from colleges to train teachers for management and prevention of rising incidence of suicides.
