The Anti-Extortion Cell south of the Mumbai police had been tipped off that Yadav was to visit a hotelier at Mumbai Central to extort money from him. Accordingly, the police laid a trap at the MumbaiCentral railway compound and when Yadav showed up at around 4.45 pm, the police asked him to surrender. Yadav was killed in the exchange of fire that ensued.

Woman killed at Oshiwara

A woman was shot dead and her husband injured when four men barged into a flat at Adarsh Nagar, Oshiwara, and opened fire on the couple at 7.45 am today. According to Senior Inspector of the Oshiwara police station, Purushottam Mulay, the incident could be the fallout of a love triangle.

Mohammad Rauf and his wife Shehnaz were rushed to hospital by neighbours after the gunmen, who had left them for dead, fled. Though Shehnaz was declared dead before admission, Rauf was admitted with a chest injury.Shehnaz was married to Rauf eight years ago after she divorced her first husband.
