
2 die in Sewri cylinder burst
Two members of a family died and six others suffered burn injuries in a fire after a gas cylinder exploded in their residence on Thursday night. According to the fire brigade, the cylinder exploded in a house at Nanji Raoji chawl near Sewri market in Central Mumbai.
Five persons sustained more than 90 per cent burns and were rushed to KEM Hospital in Parel. The others were discharged after first aid. Kamal Makwana 30 and Arjun Makwana 10, who received 100 per cent burn injuries, died at the hospital while two others were still in a serious condition.
Kokani escape: 2 cops held
Two more policemen, sub-inspector Dattaram Patil and constable Chandrakant Musale, were today arrested for allegedly helping notorious gangster Firoze Kokani escape from their custody taking the total number of arrests to five. On Thursday three policemen were put in custody. The two policemen were produced before Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Usha Iyer who remanded them to10 days judicial custody on Friday.
Youth murdered in Dharavi
A 19-year-old youth was murdered in Dharavi on Friday morning by three unidentified men. Around 11.15 am, when Biamol Raj Iryaswamy Nadar was standing at a shop in Dorwada at Dharavi, he was accosted by three men who assaulted him with a knife and choppers. As Nadar collapsed on the ground, the three escaped on foot. Nadar was rushed to the Sion Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.
