MSU convocation: Gold medallists shine at V-C146;s residence

The highlight of the penultimate day of M S University8217;s MSU 57th convocation was a glittering evening at the residence of Vice-Chancellor Prof Ramesh Goyal in the presence of 228 gold medallist students on Friday.

The highlight of the penultimate day of M S University8217;s MSU 57th convocation was a glittering evening at the residence of Vice-Chancellor Prof Ramesh Goyal in the presence of 228 gold medallist students on Friday.

The V-C had invited the students for hightea. The occasion, which passed off smoothly with the Performing Arts students playing sitar in the backdrop, also saw the presence of MP Jaya Thakkar, MLA Bhupendra Lakhawala and Education Minister Ramanlal Vora.

As a host, Prof Goyal showed a different side to his personality by welcoming the guests with a poem.

Continuing with the lighter mood, MSU Chancellor Mrunalini Devi Puar said, 8220;It is due to my grey hair that I have been asked to bless my students. My blessings are always with them. Always remember us in good and bad times.8221;

The evening saw a good number of gold medallists who were not only married, but also had kids. Suresh Baldania 45, who topped in the Management faculty, was one of them.

8220;While I stand and address, you might be thinking I am a parent of some student. In reality, I was a student of the Management faculty and work with the Gujarat State Fertiliser Corporation GSFC,8221; he said.

Baldania, who has a son, added: 8220;I could not get a chance to study since I was transferred to small units of GSFC. It was after I cleared the Gujarat State Eligibility Test two years ago did I get admission here.8221;
