AUGUST 11: After facing a rough weather in the United States over restrictive trade practices, Microsoft Corporation has also been charged with curbing competition in India as well.
Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) has recommended action against Microsoft Corporation India Private Limited over alleged restrictive trade practices.
The move by MRTPC follows complaints of alleged monopolistic and restrictive trade practices by the parent company Microsoft Corporation, US and its Indian subsidiary.
MRTPC, in an official statement, said preliminary investigation carried out by the Commission has revealed that the Indian companies did not enter into any agreement with buyers of the software or other products. “The restrictions imposed on the buyers of software products in terms of end-users licence agreement were attributed to the principal company in the US,” the statement said.
“The software products of the US company had been pleaded as intellectual properties and not the products simplicitor,” the statement further added.
