MUMBAI, July 25: Commuters might heave a sigh of relief as the possibility of a sudden strike by motormen has been postponed till August 25.
The decision to hold agitations afresh next month was taken at a meeting of the WR-CR Motormen Joint Unity Forum held on Thursday, after they received a written communication from the Director of the Joint Consultative Machinery stating that their demands are being studied on a quot;fast trackquot; and it will take them at least a month to decide on the issue.
Also a high-level committee has been constituted to review the recommendations of the fifth pay commission report regarding the pay scales of motormen, mail driver and assistant driver. The committee will submit the report within a month to the council of ministers.
