Modi not doing his rajdharma, says Sonia

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today accused the Narendra Modi government of spreading the hatred among people.

Addressing a rally in Porbandar on the culmination of Gandhi Sandesh Yatra, she expressed disappointment over the erosion of Gandhian values in the land the Mahatma was born. 8220;The Government of Gujarat is spreading the poison of hatred among people, while Gandhiji spread the message of love and unity,8221; she said and asked the people of Gujarat to remind the Gujarat Government about its rajdharma duty of the state.

Modi responded immediately by hitting at the issue of inflation, which is troubling the UPA government. After addressing a Mahila Samellan in Jasdan town of Rajkot district, the chief minister criticised the Congress chief for ignoring the issue of inflation during her speech in Porbandar.

The state is scheduled to go to polls around the end of the current year as the term of the current BJP Government ends in December. This was the second big rally organised by the Congress in three months as part of its efforts to woo voters to its fold. It had successfully organised a tribal rally in Dahod.

8220;I do not want to speak about what had happened here as everybody knows it. Now the country needs peace and harmony between the communities,8221; Sonia said addressing a huge gathering at the Chaupaty Maidan facing the Porbandar sea.

Speaking about those who were using Gandhiji8217;s name for 8220;wrong reasons8221;, she said, 8220;Unke dil main kuch aur, aur jaban pe kuch aur hai they have one thing on their lips, quite another thing in their hearts.8221;

She also accused the state government of not using Central funds given for various schemes in an appropriate manner. She gave the example of a fishermen welfare scheme that was not implemented by the Gujarat Government and also a benefit scheme for farmers that was not utilised.

Sonia voiced concern over the Modi government8217;s recent decision to relax prohibition laws in SEZs and said the government was 8220;pro-rich8221;. Later, the Congress leader met party representatives from across the state who apprised her of the ground situation.
