
A Canadian model was booked for rash and negligent driving by the Worli police after the Maruti Swift she was driving collided with a mobike at Worli Naka early on Monday, resulting in injuries to a police constable riding pillion on the bike.
While actor Salman Khan, a friend of the model according to the police, was spotted at the scene of the accident, the police rubbished speculation that he was travelling with the model in the car.
Joint Commissioner of Police Law and Order K L Prasad said, 8220;From photographs taken after the accident, it is clear that Khan was at the scene. However, officers at Worli police station have informed me that he was not in the Maruti Swift and has no role in the accident.8221;
A statement released by Salman Khan reads, 8220;I was driving back after pack-up when I saw a huge crowd at Worli Junction. I asked around and found out that there had been an accident. I got out to see if anybody needed help. That was all.8221;
8220;Shortly after midnight, Brooke Steven Clarke, a Canadian national who works as a model in the city, was travelling towards Altamount Road. At Worli Naka, the Maruti Swift she was driving collided with a motorcycle. Sanjay Suryavanshi, a police constable who was riding pillion, suffered a broken leg and was admitted to Nair Hospital from where he has been discharged,8221; said Senior Police Inspector Bharat Warlikar of the Worli police station.
8220;After the accident, Chandi Ramani, a friend of Clarke8217;s who was travelling with her in the car, helped Suryavanshi into the Swift and drove him to Nair Hospital, leaving Clarke behind at the scene of the accident. Soon, a large crowd had gathered. Salman Khan, who is a friend of Clarke8217;s and was passing by, spotted her. He got out of his car and pacified the people. We asked Khan to leave after people started gathering at the spot just to see him,8221; said Warlikar.
