For a player of Yasin Merchant8217;s class, it was like just another session devoid of much pressure and tension, as he delighted the diehard followers of the green baize with some terrific potting in the PJ Hindu Gymkhzna-Wilson Jones All India Open Handicap Snooker championships on Wednesday.
Yasin, who was on scratch, did not waste much time while notching breaks of 60 in the first frame and then followed it up with 45 in the second to beat the hosts8217; Kirti Parekh 116-73, 97-56.
How the game is becoming younger by the day can be gauged from the fine show by another junior, a 13-year-old Sumeet Parekh, who practices at the gymkhana.
On Tuesday, a 12-year-old boy Ishprit Chadha caught the eye and today, it was Sumeet, who though beaten, was pretty impressive as he went down to Rahul Bhatnagar 111-87, 104-114, 112-94. Tata Sports Club8217;s Arun Kotian 50 played steadily as he got the better of BCA8217;s Nishit Shah 55 95-78, 107-84.
