MARGAO, Jan 30: Trailing by a goal in the first half, Churchill Bros came back strongly in the second half to down Dempo 2-1 and secure top position in group A in the NFL at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, here today.

Dempo, who enjoyed territorial advantage in the first half, drew first blood in the 25th minute after missing a chance, by striker Francis Silveira. New recruit Majid Nima from the middle put a through pass to Silveira. Defender Mathew who policed Silveira, slipped while intercepting the ball. With no one to challenge him, Silveira raced down and took a shot at the goal. Keeper Edward Ansah blocked the shot. The ball came back to Silveira who slammed it to the far end of the net.

Churchill Bros fought back in the second half with Philip Mensah playing his heart out and struck two goals in a span of eight minutes to seal the fate of Dempo.
