Tomorrow’s Bangalore meeting to decide India’s next coach has been postponed indefinitely due to the unavailability of BCCI president Sharad Pawar and former India captain S Venkatraghavan, who is part of the coach selection panel.
The BCCI has received more than 15 applications for the post after it had advertised for the job in August. Since the time Greg Chappell resigned, the BCCI has continued to have temporary team managers in Ravi Shastri, Chandu Borde and now Lalchand Rajput.
Jaipur passes Test
MUMBAI: THE Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur will soon start hosting Test matches. The BCCI, after getting the green signal from ICC official Alan Hurst, has recommended that Jaipur be upgraded — it will be finalised during the Board’s forthcoming working committee meeting.
The Hyderabad Cricket Association’s (HCA) new cricket stadium at Uppal and the Vizag Cricket Association stadium in Visakhapatanam are also on the BCCI radar. “The India-Australia match in Hyderabad will be a crucial factor in checking the facilities and whether the stadium is capable of holding a Test. A further decision will be taken after that,” BCCI’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Prof Ratnakar Shetty said here today.
After BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi took over Rajasthan cricket, he has gone the extra mile to renovate the stadium in terms of facilities and capacity which was visible during the ICC Champions Trophy games hosted there last year.
