MEA issues deportation order for US paedophile

The Ministry of External Affairs has issued deportation order for Alan Jay Horowitz, the 60-year-old American paedophile, who was arrested on May 22 by the Kancheepuram district police in Mahabalipuram, about 50 km from here. On Wednesday, Horowitz was shifted to a high-security special camp in Chenglepet, 65 km from Chennai, from where he would be taken back to his home country to stand trial.

Horowitz who had fled to Mahabalipuram had jumped parole in June last year after serving 15 years in Oneida prison, New York, for charges of sexual abuse of minors. The Kancheepuram Collector is in the process of getting mandatory papers ready to get Horowitz deported.

Horowitz was brought to the special camp in handcuffs. He said he had jumped parole as he 8220;feared8221; for his life. When asked if he thought it normal to abuse children, Horowitz said: 8220;Can you talk about your actions 17 years back?8221; On whether he repented for his actions, he said: 8220;I have always been a good man.8221;
