KHARAR, MARCH 22: Sub-Divisional Magistrate Amarjit Singh Dhindsa has asked the executive officers of Kharar and Kurali Municipal Council as well as Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) of Kharar to take immediate steps for the removal of encroachments on the government land in urban and rural areas of the sub-division. The SDM was addressing the mediapersons for the first time after assuming charge here this evening. It may be recalled that a report highlighting increase in the encroachments on the government land in the town and its surroundings appeared in the columns of Chandigarh Newsline today.

The SDM said that the civic authorities have been directed to ensure proper drinking water supply, cleanliness and insecticide spray to check breading of mosquitoes.

Dhindsa said that the health authorities have been directed to ensure free medicines to the needy patients in all the health institutions. He said special emphasis would be laid to strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS) and check black marketing and hoarding of essential commodities.

The officials of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) have been asked to maintain uninterrupted supply of power during the summer. The SDM said that the officials in the sub-division have been asked to arrange for the repair and whitewash of the government buildings in view of the ensuing tercentenary celebrations of Khalsa.
