NEW DELHI, December 28: Six armed men entered the home of ENT specialist Dr Anurag Tandon in Mayur Vihar Phase-II, stole his cellular phone, pager, a portable television set, gold ring and Rs 1,500 in cash and drove off with the booty in his Maruti no. DL-6C-C-0128 on Sunday.

A day earlier, two of the men 8212; in the age group of 20-22 8212; had called on Dr Tandon at his clinic in his residence. One of the duo was treated for a ear ailment but promised to pay the doctor later. The doctor agreed, but didn8217;t take either his name or his address. On Sunday the two men came calling again. The doctor asked them to come in, and then left the door open. While he was attending to the patient, two more men entered the home and took out pistols and knives and threatened him into keeping his mouth shut.

While the two men started stacking up the electronic goods, the doctor saw two others enter his clinic. The two who entered later reportedly roughed up Dr Tandon8217;s domestic help 17-year-old Dalip Singh. The thieves left with the stolen goods in the doctor8217;s car, but not before one of them allegedly stabbed Dalip in the leg. Dalip Singh was rushed to the Shanti Mukand Hospital, and is now reportedly out of danger.

In an unrelated incident in the same area, a Super Bazaar cashier had to pay a heavy price for choosing to save money and travel by bus instead of taking an autorickshaw.

The cashier was robbed of Rs 39,330 and a cheque worth Rs 1.3 lakh on Monday morning. R.D. Verma, a cashier with the Block 26 Trilokpuri Branch of Super Bazar, was boarding a bus on route no. 364 at around 10.15 a.m. He was on his way to the Khichripur branch of Super Bazaar to deposit the money.

Two men 8212; aged around 25 8212; boarded from the same stop. They threw chilli powder in his face, snatched the plastic bag with the money and cheque, stabbed the cashier in the face and left hand and then fled. Verma was rushed to the GTB Hospital.

Super Bazar manager Ramesh Merakhul reportedly told the police that the cashier was supposed to use an autorickshaw, for which he is given an allowance but he obviously opted to travel by bus in order to save a little money.
