
Cautioning BSP workers against money, mafia, media and vested interests, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday virtually sounded the election bugle at a party workers8217; rally here.
Addressing a huge 8216;Sawdhan Raho, Aage Badho8217; rally, the BSP supremo said she felt Lok Sabha election was nearing because of the UPA-Left stand off on nuclear issue and the Ram Setu row and asked the partymen to be prepared.
8220;Congress and the Left are at loggerheads on the issue of nuclear deal and filing of wrong affidavit on Ram Setu could lead to a mid-term elections,8221; Mayawati said cautioning the party workers gathered from across the state from false campaign spread against her by the Opposition parties.
Alleging that Opposition parties could use money, mafia, media against the party, Mayawati asked them not to react on incitement of anyone.
Taking potshots at Samajwadi Party, she said as the mass base of SP was shrinking its leaders were making indecent and objectionable comments for her and the party.
8220;Don8217;t pay heed to remarks made by those who term Nithari killings as a routine affair,8221; Mayawati said adding opposition parties were working on divide and rule policy.
They Opposition parties are afraid of BSP8217;s increasing popularity and could do anything to stop the party from coming to power at the Centre, she said.
She attacked the media in the same vein saying they have launched personal attack on her alleging that she had purchased government bunglow and spent crores of rupees on renovation of the official bunglow.
Mayawati also accused the media of indulging in 8220;baseless8221; campaign about her transferring Bahujan Samaj Prerna Kendra in Lucknow and Delhi to her younger brother.
8220;I have filed details of my property with the income tax department,8221; she said clarifying her stand on opposition parties allegations.
Clarifying that she had given some money gifted to her by the party workers to her younger brother Anand Kumar, who had left government job and helping her in the mission.
8220;I have given him the money so that he can spend his life even if I am not alive,8221; she told the gathering saying that she was telling this to partymen as opposition parties can make it an issue in future.
Citing example of recent incident of tension at Bahraich and Shravasti over cow slaughter, Mayawati alleged these parties were trying to create communal tension so that law and order did not improve in the state.
8220;They are trying to create confusion among upper caste by saying that BSP was not their well wisher. If it is so why Congress had entered into a pact with BSP in 1996 and BJP had formed coalition government with us two times,8221; Mayawati said.
Clarifying her government stands of development work, Mayawati said the state was facing severe financial crunch and she had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh several times for an economic package for the state but the Centre had not responded to her.
Centre has not helped Uttar Pradesh, she alleged and said they were working to deal with the situation.
