CHANDIGARH, Aug 17: About 165 students from 23 different schools in Chandigarh, Panchkula and S.A.S. Nagar participated in a Geo-Map Quiz organised by the North-Western Region of Survey of India, here today.

The quiz, held under the “Map Awareness Programme” of the Indian National Cartographic Association was conducted for students of Classes IX to XII. The winners of the quiz will qualify for participating in the All India Quiz to be held in October.

The hour-long quiz consisted of 75 questions based on 1:50,000 scale Education Series maps of Balangir district in Orissa. The questions were targeted at map-reading ability and general knowledge.

Director North Western Region, Brig. K. S. Khatri gave away the prizes.

The results in order of merit are as follows:
St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45 (Jeetu J. Eapen, Subodh Sangwan and Mohit Gupta), Yadvindra Public School, S. A. S. Nagar (Anshoo Singla, Ramanpreet Kaur, Jashan Preet Singh) and St. Xavier’s School, Sector 44 (Rahul Gaur, Aman Bahl, Nitin Sharma).
