
MUMBAI, MARCH 13: Prakash Mankar and Bijinder Mohan Ghildayal Director SCI won the Pratt amp; Whitney Aviation golf tournament at the par-70 Bombay Presidency Golf Club, Chembur today. Mankar, a chartered accountant by profession, and Ghildayal garnered 46 points to win the pairs stableford event over 18 holes and pocket return tickets to London from Mumbai, courtesy Air-India.
The duo of A Ravi and Rajesh Tomar finished a close second with 44 points.Scoring was on a stableford basis with the better ball score on each hole counting for the tally. Players were, however, given the option to play their shots a second time if they wished to go on the holes of their choice with the number of shots being determined on the basis of 30 per cent of the player8217;s handicap. To offset this advantage, players played to 70 per cent of their handicap. 8220;The format is exciting. I utilised three of my five shots,8221; said Ghildayal, whose views were echoed by Mankar.
But not all were helped by the chance to replay the dreamshot8217;. 8220;I replayed my shots twice and both the times ended with double-bogeys,8221; noted local favourite Shivas Nath who, nevertheless, picked up a special prize for hitting closest to the pin.
The highlight of the day was a hole-in-one on the 150 yard 10th by Mamp;M8217;s Vinay Upadhayay whose 3-iron shot landed four feet from the pin, hit the stick and rolled about five feet before the backspin saw it roll back into the cup.
Individual winners: Men: Sharad Divecha 41 points, Women: Rani Maheshwari 29; Longest Drive KJ Singh 260 yards.
