Manav excels

Shashi with fine potting gained the upper hand and led by 20 points but cool and calculating Manav did not loose hope and made the best use of the openings to win the contest.

In snooker event Preetam defeated Sanjay Kaushal 43-34, 38-25. In another match Rajiv got a walk over from Rakesh Gupta.

Shooting competition
The Ropar rifle shooting championship will be held on September 3, at the Patiali Rao Shooting Ranges in Sector 25, in Chandigarh. According to a press release, competition will be organised in air pistol and air rifle events. Entries will be received at the venue at 9.30 a.m.

Rafting camp
The Haryana Sports Department, in collaboration with the Haryana Tourism Department, will organise river rafting camp for girls in the age group of 15 to 35 years, at Kalesar in District Yamunanagar. According to a press release, 38 girls are expected to take part in the two-day camp.

The District Sports and Youth Welfare Officers in the State have been directed to nominated two girls from each district for the camp.

Anurag shines
Anurag Arya of DAV Model School, Sector 15, won second position in the sub-junior section in the Independence Cup karate do championship held recently at Shimla.
