MUMBAI, SEPT 10: Swami Muktanand, Andheri, achieved their first ever title when they ousted Holy Family B, Andheri, 4-1 via the tie-breaker in boys under-14 Division IV final of the MSSA-Colgate Inter-School football tournament at the MSSA-Castrol Schools Sports Centre, Azad Maidan, today.

This was the fifth final appearance in six long years for Muktanand. They had been unsuccessful in four previous title outings. Today too, things looked bleak when they surrendered their first-half solitary goal lead early in the second-half.

They, however, withstood the sustained pressure without conceding another goal and then, scored thrice without any reply in the spot-kick duel to romp home champions.

Praneel, son of the late Bank of India star player Suresh Mendon, gave Muktanand the lead in the 20th minute. His long shot from 20 yards out from the left flank, brooked no reply from the short Holy Family goalkeeper Rohan D8217;Costa who stood rooted to the murky surface.

Holy Family restored parity in the 31st minute of the 50-minute encounter. Alexander Lobo was the goal-getter. His chip from the right corner of the goal area beat Muktanand goalkeeper Anup Bhat hands down.

In the tie-breaker, Inderprith Dhillon, Rajiv Dutt and Bhavesh Trivedi neatly scored for Muktanand. Shalton D8217;Souza, Rohan Pawaskar and Ashwin Patel failed to account for Holy Family.

Evelyn Goes maintained her fine goal-scoring spree. She notched the match-winner today to take St Anne8217;s A, Fort, into the girls under-16 final with a 2-1 victory over St Mary8217;s, Kalina. This was Evelyn8217;s 15th goal in four matches.
