CHENNAI, March 26: The standard of play was better but the matches continued to be one-sided even on the second day of the Indian Oil Servo tennis tournament at the Krishnan Tennis Centre on Thursday. But again, like on the opening day, at least one of the four matches was fairly gripping and kept the small but knowledgeable crowd engrossed.Manoj Mahadevan and Rohan Wadhera were the players involved in the well contested 90-minute encounter. However, Mahadevan showed better temperament to edged out Wadhera 6-4, 7-5.The three other matches however were fairly one-sided. Harsh Mankad of Maharashtra outplayed N Mukundan, a trainee at KTC, 6-0, 6-2 in 50 minutes.Vishal Uppal of Delhi, seeded No 4, downed Kamala Kannan, a KTC trainee 6-3, 6-1 while 3rd seed Vasudeva Reddy, an IOC employee from Andhra, trounced Vijayendra Laad of Maharashtra 6-3, 6-3.The quarter-final line up: Marcus Hilpert vs Vinod Sridhar, Vishal Uppal vs Harsh Mankad, Manoj Mahadevan vs Vasudeva Reddy, CV Anand vs Gaurav Natekar.
