Lust for medals!

CHANDIGARH, Sept 14: A college can go to any extent to get an Inter-College medal. A glaring incident which took place today in which a sports person had to be hospitalised due to excessive workload resulting in fatigue, during the league encounter of the PU Inter-College water polo event between local DAV College and DAV College, Hoshiarpur, only affirmed this.

Naveen Dalal, a member of the DAV-10 water polo team, felt uncomfortable during the contest and when he came out of the pool he was struggling to breathe. Naveen was rushed to PU dispensary where he was attended upon by Dr Dhawan who did not rule out the possibility of the swimmer having been exhausted by strenuous exercise. 8220;Due to round the clock events the swimmer might have got tired. After participating in the swimming events he was straightway put in the water polo event8221;.

According to an official, Naveen was looking very tired in the 200 metres breaststroke event in which he won the gold. 8220;Naveen shouldn8217;t have taken part in the water polo event,8221; the official added.

According to the official list, Naveen was entered in more than five events.
