Think youth festival and the images that storm your mind are a blur of energy, fun and style. One would imagine the venue turn into the 8216;It8217; destination. So with these expectation we went to the venue of the Chandigarh Zone A of Punjab University Diamond Jubilee Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival 8212; Government College, Sector 46. Inaugurated by Pradeep Mehra, Advisor to the Administrator, the fest is significant for the college for it has visited the venue after 14 years. 8220;We have wanted to host the fest for a long time. Now that it has finally happened, we have put in our best efforts to make sure that students go back happier and richer with experience,8221; says Dr KS Saluja, principal of the college.
As the teams adjusted their equipment on stage, the chief guest left the hall, so did most of those sitting in the back seats. After a long wait, the sound of flute broke the silence. Bhajan and group singing kick started the fest, followed by classical music vocal and music light vocal. While this occupied the audiences at the auditorium, at other venues students showcased their talent in rangoli, collage making, on the spot painting, clay modelling, cartooning, still life drawing and poster making. The place was nicely decorated, so were the teachers-dressed in heavy sarees and suits.
Many suffered due to Airtel8217;s poor network, team leaders couldn8217;t get in touch with their students, scribes couldn8217;t get in touch with their photographers etc etc etc. While there was shabad gayan inside the hall, outside on the stage was a crowd dancing to Chamkila, Jazzy B and Lehmber. Many opted to rather enjoy the sun and pakoras. Since the chill has set its foot in the region, it was also time for fisherman8217;s caps and trendy stoles. If you think its not yet happening enough, the drama will set in on Day Two. See you there!
