PANCHKULA, JUNE 15: Due to forced outage of 500 MW power generating units each at Rihand and Anpara in Uttar Pradesh today morning, due to leakages in boiler tube and economiser tube respectively, the power generating capacity in the Northern Grid has been reduced by 1000 MW. This is in addition to the 1,100 MW that were already on shut down. This has resulted in extremely low frequency and low voltage conditions in the northern states.

This information was conveyed by an official spokesman of the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam here. He said that both the above units were expected to function within 2-3 days. During this period the consumers may have to face unscheduled power cuts. The spokesman has appealed that the Electricity consumers should bear with this unavoidable situation and assured that the situation would improve within 2-3 days.
