Mumbai, May 26: Leader of opposition in the State Assembly Narayan Rane today feared that developmental projects in the State would be hit and more taxes would be levied on the people following the State Government’s failure to get sanction for the annual plan outlay of Rs 12,330 crore for the year 2000-01 from the Planning Commission.
Work on developmental projects would be affected as the commission has sanctioned only Rs 11,500 crore as against the State’s plan of Rs 12,330 crore, Rane, told reporters at Vidhan Bhavan here.
Fund allocation on various departments like school education, revenue, forests, tribal development, industries, energy, labour, rural development and water conservation have been reduced substantially, he claimed.
The Government owes an explanation to the people on this account, Rane said.
The opposition leader said for the first time in the history of the State annual budget was passed this year without getting sanctioned the annual plan outlay.
