The Chief Justice of India, at a recent function attended by the Prime Minister, applauded the UPA8217;s flagship National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme NREGS. Speaking at length about the Act, he asked the legal fraternity to spread awareness about it. Interestingly, a litigation involving the Act, its various provisions and implementation is pending before the CJI8217;s bench.
