Left would not do anything harmful to UPA: DMK

The DMK on Wednesday expressed hope that the Left parties would not do anything 8216;harmful8217; to the UPA government.

8220;I don8217;t think they will do anything harmful to this government8230; I don8217;t think they will leave room for the communal forces. I hope for a solution. They are our friends,8221; DMK leader and Shipping and Surface Transport Minister T R Baalu told reporters in New Delhi.

His comment was sought on the possibility of the Left parties withdrawing support to the government if it went ahead with the Indo-US nuclear deal.

8220;My leader and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has already spoken to my comrades, my friends Prakash Karat and D Raja,8221; he said referring to their recent meeting in Chennai.

Baalu recently met Congress President Sonia Gandhi as part of her exercise to consult UPA constituents over the stand-off with the Left on the nuclear issue.
