Jalandhar girl Yuvika Dhir, a Class 9 student of Police DAV Public School, has won a silver medal at the prestigious Asmita Khelo India Women’s League. Competing in the +77 kg weightlifting category, Dhir delivered an impressive performance with a 50 kg snatch and a 61 kg clean and jerk. The tournament was held at Sunam in Sangrur district on January 7.
Dhir has already established herself as a promising name in Indian women’s strength sports. She is a National Gold Medallist in Powerlifting and has consistently excelled at district, state, and national-level competitions. After making a mark in powerlifting, she successfully transitioned to weightlifting, where she continued her winning streak with multiple podium finishes.
Dhir’s notable victories include gold medals at Kheda Watan Punjab Di 2024 (District Level), DAV Sports District Games 2025-26, District School Games 2025-26 in both weightlifting and powerlifting, State DAV Sports Games 2025-26, and the Chandigarh State Weightlifting Championship 2024-25, along with the silver medal at the Asmita Khelo India Women’s League.
Currently, Dhir is undergoing professional training under Coach Sarabjit Singh Kanda, an ex-international player and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award holder.
