
PATNA, April 16: Former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav today appeared before the designated CBI court in connection with regular case of the multi-crore rupee fodder scam.
Designated CBI Judge S K Lal fixed May 1 as the next date for production and appearance of all the 56 accused in the case.
Former chief minister Jagannath Mishra, former ministers Chandradeo Prasad Verma and Vidya Sagar Nishadand, MLAs Jagdish Sharma and R K Rana could not appear before the court today.
Several petitions were filed on their behalf by the advocate for exemption of production on the day in accordance with the provisions of Section 317 of Criminal Procedure Code.
Other accused who appeared before the court included former minister Bhola Ram Toofani, MLA Dhruv Bhagat and four IAS officers, including Beck Julius, K Arumugam and Phoolchand Singh retired. The CBI furnished statements of 15 witnesses recorded under Section 164 of Code of Criminal Procedure.
