Humility walks with leg-spinner Piyush Chawla. His selection to the ODI squad has 8220;made me feel great8221; but he has kept his feet firmly on the ground.
Talking to The Indian Express, Chawla said he will be giving his best whenever he gets a chance to serve the nation, but that he can never compare himself with legendary leggie Anil Kumble.
8220;I am nowhere near Kumble. He is an expert in the art of leg spin bowling, while I am just a learner. As a player I have to learn a lot from Kumble Sir, and hope to see him play for the country for a long time.8221;
About his selection the 18-year-old said: 8220;Of course it is a dream come true for any player to get a chance in the ODIs. But honestly speaking, which version of the game it is does not matter that much for me now; getting a place in Team India again in order to prove myself was much more important.8221;
He said he had no specific plans for the Bangladesh tour and would concentrate on playing his regular game. 8220;These days fitness counts for a lot, and I have been concentrating on that for quite sometime. My form has definitely improved due to regular practice sessions and by playing in domestic cricket.8221;
Chawla was in his hometown when he learnt about his selection. 8220;All my family and friends are in an upbeat mood and they are celebrating the occasion with sweets. The phone has been ringing constantly!8221;
