On the second board, the game between second seeded Ramprakash of Tamil Nadu and local player Meghal Shah was exciting. Playing white, Meghal opened the game with King-Pawn against which Ramprakash opted for Najdorf variation of Sicilian defence. Meghal obtained an initiative in the opening and soon gained positional advantage, but in time pressure committed check-mate blunder to resign on 50th move.
