Kimi Raikkonen will keep the Formula One drivers8217; title after motorsport world governing body FIA on Sunday ruled against penalising four drivers investigated for fuel irregularities following the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The fuel in the cars of fourth-place Nico Rosberg of Williams, fifth-place Robert Kubica of BMW-Sauber and his sixth-placed teammate Nick Heidfeld were 8220;more than 10 degrees Celsius; 50 degrees Fahrenheit below the ambient temperature,8221; FIA had said in a statement. In a decision more than six hours after the end of the race, FIA said there was not enough evidence to penalise the drivers or the teams.
If the drivers had been penalised points, McLaren rookie Lewis Hamilton could have moved from seventh to fourth in the race, which would be enough for him to clinch the world title.
