Essay competition
The Symbiosis Centre of Health Care SCHC had conducted Health Fest 998242; , an inter school Health Essay Competition for students of classes VI to IX . The topic of the essays were given extempore and were related to Health and allied issues. These included Food tastier or healthier?,8217; First Aid 8211; a life saving service,8217; Pune city8217;s health 8211; problems and solutions,8217; Towards health for all 8211; our priorities at the doorstep of the next millennium8217;.882 students from 93 English and Marathi medium schools took part in this competition. The prize distribution of this competition was held on September 25, at the hands of famous cartoonist and winner of Ramon Magsaysay award, R K Laxman. Mrs Kamala Laxman was the Guest of Honour, while Dr. Anand Pandit, eminent paeditratrician presided over.

The top three students from each class both Marathi and English medium were awarded a memento and a gift hamper. In addition, a certificate of Merit was awarded to the top ten students of each class and of both mediums.Some excerpts from the prize winning essays:

Shiladitya Banarjee of class VI writes on Food tastier or healthier8217;: quot;A healthy man is definitely more happy. He is less irritable, patient and can face the ups and downs of life more easily.quot;

Vedavati Patwardhan of Class VII writes on Pune city8217;s health problems and solutions8217;: quot;If we are careful, if we follow the rules which nature has set , we will prosper. And encouraging the growth of trees is one of the golden rules, as they are the pillars of our life, helping and supporting us in every way.quot;

Smita Pravin Pawar of Class IX writes on Towards health for all 8211; our priorities at the doorstep of the next millennium,8217; quot;Today8217;s world is a world of competition. The winner is the one who gives importance to necessary things like health.quot;

Palvi Vijay Raikar of class VII writes on First aid 8211; a life saving service,8217; quot;However, we can8217;t depend on first aid only. Serious accidents should be taken to the hospital. But where a person can die in a moment, first aid is the only hope that he can keep.quot;
