PUNE, Sept 30: Nizam Kazi was elected as vice-president of Pune Cantonment Board today. He has taken over from Vinod Sanghvi.

He was sworn in at the board meeting in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Kalmadi. His name was proposed by Ashok Pawar and seconded by Gautam Mahajan.

Various committees were formed. Manik Bhandari, was elected finance committee chairman while Vinod Mathurawalla was elected chairman of general purposes committee. Gautam Mahajan took over as chairman of education committee and Ashok Pawar now heads health and sports committee.

The board decided to file a defamation suit against advocate Netra Prakash Bhog for levelling allegations against the board for selling off land. Bhog defends the cantonment and has been engaged by the board’s legal firm M/s Advani and Co.
