NEW DELHI, April 15: A solitary goal by Rajesh Kashyap in the 22nd minute of the first half helped Delhi Audit get past a fighting Bank of India in the Ambedkar Football Tournament for the institutional teams at the Thyagraj Nagar Sports Complex here today.

The match never rose to any dizzy heights and never fitted the bill of an inaugural game. The match was played at a slow pace was evenly poised with both sides concentrating more on defence. However, it was Delhi Audit which took the initiative of venturing out and the move paid dividends. Though Bank of India tried to keep Delhi Audit at bay but Rajesh Kashyap managed to break free from his shadows and sent in a long ranger which struck the corner of the net.

After taking lead, Audit boys hardly attempted any worthwhile move in that half to take the break. Even SBI was hard to find the gaps and seemed content with the way they were playing.

One thought the teams would change their attitude and attack on resumption. But the sparse crowd was as much disappointed as the Aduit boys who, despite maximum ball possession, capitulated. Meanwhile, SBI looked like making some moves though they were never goal-bearing ones.

COMMUNICATION GAP?: The tournament was scheduled to be inaugurated by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Chopra. But there seemed to be some communication gap between the chief guest and the tournament organisers. As a result, the chief guest landed at the Ambedkar Stadium instead of Thyagraj Nagar Complex, the venue of the tournament.

Chopra was aghast to find some other programme scheduled at the Ambedkar Stadium and by the time he realised the folly, it was too late. The organisers were left with no option but to get the tournament inaugurated by somebody else.
