Karkera, Baig resurrect Rizvi

MUMBAI, JANUARY 20: A heroic last-wicket stand between Uday Karkera 75 not out: 106b, 120m, 8215;4, 2215;6 and Imran Baig 29: 68b, 4215;4 resurrected Rizvi College8217;s hopes in the Junior Inter-Collegiate summit clash. The duo raised 120 runs to turn the tables on RA Podar on the penultimate day of the four-day encounter at at the Elf Vengsarkar on Thursday.

Resuming at their overnight score of 229 for six, in reply to RA Podar8217;s 328, Rizvi8217;s fate appeared sealed when they lost three wickets for the addition of 21 runs. However, Karkera and Baig put their heads together and thwarted the opposition in a defiant display to clinch the crucial lead, which was a distant 88 runs away when they began their association.

All is not lost for Podar though. They had made 132 for 4 in the second essay when stumps were drawn for the day. Some quick runs early on Friday could pave way for an interesting finish to the finale.
