Joshi promises PSU autonomy

NEW DELHI, OCT 18: New heavy industries and public enterprises minister Manohar Joshi today said the government will give more autonomy to public sector undertakings PSUs, including navratnas and mini navratnas and promised a faster disinvestment process.

quot;We will review the position regarding grant of autonomy to PSUs so that they are able to take commercial decisions quickly,quot; Joshi, who assumed office today, told reporters.

Joshi said the government had identified 24 PSUs, including HMT, Scooters India, Hindustan Photo Films and Cement Corporation, where it will reduce stake upto 49 per cent.
