CHENNAI, MAY 7: The State executive and district presidents of the Janata Dal on Friday met here and decided to sever the party8217;s relationship with the DMK as the latter quot;has chosen to support the Bharatiya Janata Partyquot;.

Briefing mediapersons at the end of the executive meet, State JD president G A Vadivelu said though the DMK cannot be described as a communal party, its policy decision of extending support to the Vajpayee Government is wrong.

quot;We have met AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha and expressed our desire to become a constituent of the front led by the AIADMK for the purpose of contesting the coming Lok Sabha elections, quot; Vadivelu said, adding that former prime minister H D Deve Gowda has also spoken to Jayalalitha about exploring the possibility of a JD-AIADMK alliance.
